Job Summary:
Radiation Therapist position in Winchester, VA. This role involves providing daily care to cancer patients through accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the radiation oncologist. The position includes performing simulations, assisting with treatment planning procedures such as tumor localization and dosimetry, and supporting clinical education for radiation therapy students. The schedule is dayshift, Monday through Friday.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, VA License (must include VA License or status of license; VA Temp License acceptable with pending VA License), minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with IMRT, 3-D treatment planning, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as EPIC.
• Responsibilities: Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, and patient identification; schedules and explains procedures to patients; interfaces with physicist and dosimetrist; prepares treatment rooms and equipment; takes and verifies images; transfers patients to treatment couch; maintains patient markings; reinforces patient care instructions; observes and reports patient reactions; adheres to radiation safety measures; verifies billing charges; documents treatment doses and setup instructions; ensures proper immobilization; documents all pertinent information for dosimetry; and treats patients using electronic chart.
• Additional Information: No float rotation required. The position necessitates adherence to radiation safety protocols and precise documentation for treatment planning and delivery.
