Automotive Service Technician

Service Technician PositionThe Service Technician position, at the Mills Auto Group in Columbia South Carolina, is an exciting opportunity for a talented and detail-oriented technician, to take on a full-time skilled labor role. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles for the dealership, providing excellent customer service, and working professionally with colleagues and customers. The individual in this role will be responsible for servicing cars brought into the shop, from basic maintenance, and minor repairs, to full automobile service and repairs. We are seeking a candidate with a background in automotive care. Ford, BMW, Toyota/Lexus and Jaguar Land Rover experience a plus!Duties and ResponsibilitiesExamine cars based on customer requests and/or concernsPerform basic maintenance including rotating tires, checking fluid levels, and changing oil.Repair or replace worn parts and systems such as spark plugs, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel systems, and sensors.Test systems and individual parts to ensure proper working order and/or to evaluate degree of damage.Follow checklists to ensure thorough examination of all parts and systems.Identify mechanical and electrical problems with both computerized diagnostic equipment and the naked eye.Determine appropriate repair measures based on research, peer-to-peer examination, and past experience.Perform repairs thoroughly and accurately, taking into account original repair strategy, and customer specifications.Ensure customer satisfactions at all times.Requirements and QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent preferredBasic computer skills requiredCertification in a related field from a vocational school a plusStrong verbal communication skills (will be expected to relay auto repair information to customers and other mechanics)Detail oriented and thorough, organizedPhysical strength and stamina, and ability to lift 50 lbs. unassistedCritical thinking skillsTroubleshooting skillsMechanically and analytically mindedBenefits offered:Health insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceRetirement benefitsEmployee discountsWe are an equal opportunity employer and prohibit discrimination/harassment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws
