Your contributions will directly impact our engineering teams and customers—our Interns don't just watch our engineers at work.Responsibilities for the System Administrator Intern:Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and PowerShell to improve system administration tasksSupport the configuration, maintenance and optimisation of Windows-based engineering infrastructureAssist with the deployment, monitoring and maintenance of development, test and build environmentsContribute to infrastructure improvement projects, helping increase reliability, scalability and securityInvestigate and resolve infrastructure issues, working closely with Software Engineers and DevOps teamsHelp improve system monitoring, reporting and operational toolingSupport identity, access management and endpoint administration activities across engineering environmentsDocument infrastructure processes and contribute to operational best practicesRequirements for the System Administrator Intern:2nd Year, Final Year or Masters level student completing a degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Engineering or another STEM disciplineKnowledge of Python and PowerShell scriptingUnderstanding of Windows operating systems and system administration fundamentalsFamiliarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory)Experience using Git or other version control systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAn interest in infrastructure automation, systems engineering and cyber securityAn aspiring System Administrator looking for an internship with HP Wolf Security should have:An interest in automating repetitive tasks and improving operational efficiencyExperience working on technical projects outside of academia (personal projects, home labs, open-source contributions or scripting projects)An enthusiasm for Windows administration, infrastructure and cloud technologiesA desire to learn modern DevOps, automation and infrastructure management practicesExcellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a world-class engineering teamLocation & working modelThis role is based in HP’s Cambridge office under a hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum requirement to be onsite three days per week.
