REGIONAL MAINTENANCE TECH 1

Overview Primary purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, repair, align/calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment and instrumentation, as well as assist local and regional personnel in the development of safety procedures and policies for specific systems and facilities. This position can be located at Colton Terminal, Watson Terminal, or Carson Terminal. Responsibilities Support the following equipment: Pumps, motors, mainline and manifold control valves, turbine and positive displacement meters, proving equipment, tank gauging equipment, pressure and temperature gauges, SCADA equipment and related interfaces. Electrical equipment such as valve actuators, medium voltage switchgear, substation equipment, motor circuit protectors, motor control centers, truck loading equipment and control systems, remote station control systems, pressure transmitters, tank level measurement systems, tank high‑level alarm systems, PLC‑based controllers, digital displays, lighting circuits, safety systems, pressure shutdown devices, teletypes, SCADA transmission equipment, automated fire control systems. Maintain required records per Department of Transportation for designated equipment and devices. Maintain maintenance and repair records for area equipment. Maintain accurate and timely CMV logs. Assist in training of other technicians. Consistently demonstrate adherence to personal safety and safety of others. Support regional projects and collaborate with station personnel. Assist corporate engineered projects including pre‑operational testing, startup and commissioning. Work with vendors and their technicians on new and repaired or upgraded equipment. Inspect and document contract work on company assets. Support company and contract inspectors on area and regional projects. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on terminal and mainline equipment. Become familiar with CMMS and its functions. Maintain lubrication schedule on terminal and mainline equipment. Act as a “floating technician” to assist various locations. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum requirements High school diploma, technical school degree or equivalent preferred. Grade level depends on prior experience as skilled technician and industry experience. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and ladder diagrams, mechanical drawings, aerial strip maps, and maintain as‑built drawings. Good communication skills, self‑motivation and assertive style. Ability to be trained through internal and external programs. Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of refined petroleum products pipeline systems and equipment for station and terminal operations. Knowledge of occupational hazards, DOT requirements, calibration and maintenance records, safety inspections and reports. Certification, licenses, registrations Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Must pass the Commercial Motor Vehicle physical. Possession of or ability to obtain a TWIC card where applicable. Compliance with license or certification requirements per local, state, or federal agencies. Competencies, skills, and abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to read and comprehend documents. Accountable, able to follow manager directions, keep schedules, focus on details, and adhere to work rules. Pass Operator Qualification requirements (OQ). Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Self‑motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision. Interpersonal skills, flexibility, teamwork, professional demeanor. Mechanical aptitude needed for maintenance and operational tasks. Physical demands Physically capable of completing all training requirements. Work performed outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather. Manual labor: walking, bending, stooping, climbing tanks, digging, lifting. Field activities: walk to work sites, climb trenches, work near heavy equipment, navigate rough terrain, confined spaces. Ability to climb tanks (~60 steps) safely without assistance. Visual acuity to read gauges and screens, hearing for alarms. Extended sitting may be required. Working conditions Position may be located at Booomington, CA Colton Terminal. Call‑outs on a 24‑hour emergency basis; ability to work long hours, weekends, nights, and holidays. Must carry cell phone or pager and respond 24/7. Occasional overnight travel required. Subject to 24‑hour call‑out, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime required and extended hours during emergencies. May work alone (unsupervised). May be exposed to refined oil products; may emit vapors; flammable and explosive under some conditions. Exposure to smells and vapor associated with petroleum products. Climatic conditions vary by location; may include extreme winter or summer heat. Supervisory responsibility None Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities Knowledge and experience working with construction contractors. Experience in pipeline inspection. Experience with petroleum storage and dispensing operations. Pipeline hydraulics experience desired. Basic knowledge of cathodic protection. Knowledge of piping, valves, pressures. Knowledge of pipeline operations. Experience with storage tank operations, inspections, alarms and sampling. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
