Vice President of Advancement

GENERAL :

The Vice President, of Advancement plays a critical leadership role in advancing the mission of Orchard Place by overseeing strategic fundraising, donor engagement, marketing, communications, and community relations initiatives. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this position is responsible for driving resource development, cultivating meaningful relationships with donors and community partners, and enhancing the Orchard Place brand and visibility throughout the communities it serves. Leading a high-performing Advancement team, the Vice President collaborates closely with the Board of Directors, Foundation Board, agency leadership, community stakeholders, and staff to implement strategic goals that support organizational sustainability and growth. Through innovative fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, community engagement, strategic communications, and impactful storytelling, this role ensures Orchard Place's continued ability to provide life-changing mental and behavioral health services for children and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Strategic Fundraising and Donor Engagement:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive resource development strategy aligned with Orchard Place's strategic plan and organizational priorities.
  • Lead all fundraising initiatives, including individual giving, major gifts, annual campaigns, capital campaigns, planned giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, foundation support, endowments, and special events.
  • Cultivate, solicit, steward, and strengthen relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations, community organizations, and philanthropic partners to maximize engagement and financial support.
  • Oversee donor engagement strategies that foster meaningful connections, long-term donor retention, and increased philanthropic investment in Orchard Place.
  • Identify, develop, and secure funding opportunities through donations, sponsorships, grants, planned giving vehicles, and other innovative fundraising efforts.
  • Partner with executive leadership, board members, and community ambassadors to advance fundraising goals and expand Orchard Place's donor network.
  • Oversee donor communications, stewardship activities, recognition programs, impact reporting, and fundraising events while evaluating effectiveness and return on investment.
• Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Serve as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, long-term planning, and agency-wide decision-making.
  • Partner with the CEO, Board of Directors, Foundation Board, and senior leadership to advance Orchard Place's mission, visibility, and sustainability.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development to the Marketing and Development team.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and donor-centered engagement across the organization:
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging, brand alignment, and compelling storytelling across all platforms and audiences.
• Marketing, Communications, and Community Engagement:
  • Provide strategic oversight for all external marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives.
  • Lead the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications strategies that strengthen Orchard Place's brand awareness, reputation, and community engagement.
  • Oversee organizational communications including annual reports, impact reports, donor communications, newsletters, media relations, website content, social media platforms, digital marketing campaigns, and public-facing materials.
  • Ensure consistent branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communications channels and stakeholder groups.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies that effectively communicate organizational impact, fundraising priorities, program outcomes, and community partnerships.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and ambassador for Orchard Place as appropriate, strengthening relationships with community leaders, partners, donors, and media representatives.
• Special Events and Volunteer Engagement:
  • Provide strategic oversight for planning and execution of fundraising events, community engagement initiatives, and sponsorship programs.
  • Ensure special events align with organizational goals, donor engagement strategies, and revenue targets.
  • Oversee volunteer engagement efforts, including recruitment, retention, recognition, and integration into organizational activities and events.
• Grant Development and Planned Giving:
  • Oversee the development, submission, and stewardship of grant proposals and funding opportunities.
  • Ensure effective management and reporting of grant-funded initiatives.
  • Expand and strengthen Orchard Place's planned giving program through donor education, cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
• Data-Driven Strategy and Operational Excellence :
  • Utilize fundraising, donor, and marketing analytics to evaluate effectiveness, identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure accurate donor records, contribution tracking, reporting, and compliance with applicable fundraising and nonprofit regulations.
  • Develop performance metrics and dashboards to monitor fundraising, marketing, communications, and donor engagement outcomes.
• Other Duties :
  • Support internal fundraising initiatives, employee engagement activities, and organizational events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

HOURS AND REMUNERATIONS:

This is a full-time position typically requiring 40 hours per week. However, occasional evening and weekend availability may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role effectively. The position offers a competitive salary aligned with prevailing market standards.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to the Chief Executive Officer of Orchard Place.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

GENERAL: At the time of employment and every three (3) years thereafter, the person shall receive a physician's certification of adequate health to perform duties. Must have satisfactory background checks and meet federal fingerprinting requirements through the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Abuse Registries (which includes child abuse, dependent adult abuse and sexual offender registries). At the time of employment and throughout employment with the agency, the person shall have a valid Driver's license and show proof of valid liability insurance on own vehicle.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, donor relations, and marketing. Proven track record in capital campaigns, annual drives, planned giving, and grant writing. Experience supervising and mentoring teams. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Strategic planning and data analysis expertise. Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising associations and marketing strategies is preferred. Ability to embody and promote the organization's mission and Sanctuary Model values.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: The Vice President, Advancement will demonstrate verbal and written communication skills. Will demonstrate ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures, or government regulations. Will demonstrate ability to write reports; policies and procedures utilizing correct grammar and punctuation. Will demonstrate ability to effectively present information and respond to question from superiors, other employees, residents and persons from outside the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: The Vice President, Advancement will have the ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions) for completion of necessary paper work (i.e., mileage reimbursement forms, etc.).

REASONING ABILITY: The Vice President, Advancement will evidence ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. He/she will demonstrate the ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions, verbal and behavioral interactions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this position the Vice President, Advancement is required to walk, stand and sit. Using hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds.

EMOTIONAL DEMANDS: The Vice President, Advancement will demonstrate emotional stability, maturity and the ability to establish appropriate working relationships with other staff members, emotionally disturbed children and their families, consulting professionals, and outside professionals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

While performing the duties for this position, the Vice President, Advancement is periodically exposed to outside weather conditions. Indoor conditions will vary (air conditioned/no air conditioning). The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Potential risk is within normal boundaries for working with emotionally disturbed youth with potential impulse control issues
