They are an educator of patients and their families. In this capacity, they will develop a strong trusting relationship with patients and serves to reinforce the role of the primary care team and expand pulmonary and benefits services to the patient when clinically indicated. They advise patients on their pulmonary condition and specifically on the Federal and State OP benefits that may be available to them. Core Duties and Responsibilities, which include the following and other duties as assigned: Assessing and assisting patients with Pulmonary Rehabilitation Patient and family education Pulmonary Function Testing Scheduling CITI Training (preferred, but not required) Qualifications – Skills and Abilities: Understand and articulate the basic requirements of Pulmonary Rehabilitation program that meets the requirements of national certification and of Medicare. Conduct standard outpatient pulmonary care procedures. Use the electronic health record to gather and update patient histories, to record progress notes and treatment notes, to bill for services, and to communicate with other clinicians in CCHS. Access patient records through the hospital record sharing programs (e.g. CAMC eLink). Understand and address the billing requirements for pulmonary care services of the major third party payers. Utilize common office computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Education and Experience: Current WV state licensure is required Must possess Active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date Physical Demands: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending and lifting. Requires full range of body motion, including assisting in the lifting of patients manually. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Working with ill patients may be stressful. Work is performed in a clinical setting with occasional evening and weekend work required.
