Maintenance TechnicianKENT Nutrition Group, Inc., a member of the KENT WORLDWIDE™ family of companies, has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician at our Sheldon, IA plant. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing plant equipment and building systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. We are seeking a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented individual who enjoys solving problems, working hands-on, and contributing to a team-focused manufacturing environment. This is a 1st shift position with a schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and includes some on-call responsibilities. We offer competitive pay, opportunities for career growth, and a comprehensive benefits package.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESMonitor factors that may influence the quality and safety of the finished feed and ingredientsDevelop and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance plan timeline that includes mechanical, electrical, and control system equipment, with clear instructions and tasks to be performedEstablish and conduct regularly scheduled inspections of all equipment items, including motors, drives, panels, sensors, and power distribution components, in accordance with the maintenance plan, noting condition and required corrective actionsEnsure proper building, electrical infrastructure, and housekeeping maintenance for the safety of employeesTroubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems throughout the plant, including motors, conveyors, VFDs, starters, limit switches, and basic control circuitsPerform or coordinate electrical inspections, repairs, and upgrades in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and local electrical codesMaintain accurate and complete records of all work performed, including electrical repairs, inspections, and modifications, and manpower time distributionBe proactive in the mechanical and electrical/technical needs of equipment maintenance to minimize downtimeMaintain "Equipment Data Sheet" files for each item of plant equipment, including electrical specifications, labor and parts costs, and continuously improve the tag and identification system for all spare partsEnsure adequate supply of electrical components, food-grade lubricants, equipment parts, and tools are maintained in inventoryOrganize and maintain operator manuals, electrical schematics, and parts lists for all equipment in the facilityPractice and enforce good safety procedures in all work performed, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety practicesFollow and enforce plant policies, rules, and guidelinesOversee and ensure all maintenance tasks, including electrical work performed by operators or contractors, are completed safely and documented properlyCommunicate operating condition, efficiency, and electrical reliability issues of all equipment to the Plant ManagerOther tasks as assignedQUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSAdequate formal training or past working experience as a millwright, industrial maintenance technician, electrician, and/or welderStrong knowledge of feed mill operations and electrically driven processing equipmentExtensive working knowledge of shop, power, and hand tools, maintenance equipment, and electrical testing devices (multimeters, clamp meters, etc.)Strong ability to recognize, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical systems, including single- and three-phase power, motors, motor controls, VFDs, PLC I/O (basic), sensors, and safety circuitsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawingsMechanically and electrically inclined with strong problem-solving skillsStrong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, including maintenance records and logsGood communication, verbal, written, and math skillsReliable, self-motivated, requires minimal supervision, and strives for continuous improvementAbility to work independently and cooperate effectively with all fellow employees and departmentsAbility to perform all work in compliance with OSHA standards, electrical safety regulations, and plant safety requirementsThorough understanding of cGMPsKnowledge of HACCP Feed & Food Safety Plan and FSMAAbility to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperaturesAbility to lift a minimum of 55 lbs. from floor to working height as job requiresMust demonstrate strong verbal communication skills in EnglishEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
