The Police Department is currently recruiting for "POLICE OFFICER". Summary Of Duties This position serves the needs of the community by enforcing federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. In addition, this position performs patrol functions, makes investigations and arrests suspects, provides assistance to citizens, controls traffic, and responds to other emergencies. At the discretion of the supervisor, this position will present crime prevention programs and perform special assignments. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Must meet all requirements as established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCOLE) Basic Certification. Must have graduated from a certified Police Academy and passed the TCOLE Basic Peace Officer Licensing Exam or successfully completed these requirements by Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Must hold a valid Texas peace officer license and have never had a license issued by any State law enforcement regulatory commission revoked. Must possess a current, valid Texas driver's license. Application Offers of employment are contingent upon the results of a pre-employment controlled substance screening, physical examination, and background check, which may include a criminal history report, driver's license verification, education verification, State fingerprint screening, and/or credit history check. Recruitment/Selection Process Step 1: Complete and submit an online application Qualified candidates will be notified by e-mail that they are eligible to test. Step 2: Informational Meeting and Written Exam (Applicants will be notified of the next testing date) Report on the date, time, and location for the written Exam. (No late entry to the testing location). The passing score is 70% or higher in each section. Step 4: Oral Interview Board (Same day as a written test) TBA (Date and Time). Step 5: Personal History Statement Applicants will prepare all required documentation needed to accompany their personal History Statement (TCOLE) and submit it no later than TBA (Date and Time).
