Position Overview Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Work Location: Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, CA Pay: Up to $29.99/hour + $7.20/hour (Health & Wellness Benefit through the Union) Operate as an Operations Engineering Technician II providing support to the NAWCWD PTMO program at Naval Base Ventura County. Primary Duties Perform cleaning, sanding, paint stripping, painting, installation, or assembly on various seaborne targets, vessels, and marine equipment. Work in the Seaborne Targets Operations and Maintenance Division under guidance of shop leads. Use advanced knowledge of gasoline inboard/outboard marine engines, generator systems, and related marine auxiliary equipment. Diagnose marine engine malfunctions and assist repair to restore equipment to operating condition. Follow preventative maintenance programs using technical service manuals and schematic charts. Occasionally serve as a crew member on various size vessels. Certify in operating Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) and conduct line handling and boat checks. Work Conditions Duties performed indoors and outdoors, both onshore and afloat on even or uneven surfaces, dry or wet. Work in a seaborne environment with shift work at remote locations, occasional overnight assignments. Ability to lift 50 lbs and to travel to remote locations for mission support, including routine deployments INCONUS and occasional OCONUS. Overtime may be required. Work schedule: 9/80 (Mon–Thurs 9 hrs; alternating Fridays 8 hrs and off). Requirements High School Diploma. Knowledge of Mercury Marine, Honda, and/or Suzuki gasoline inboard/outboard marine engines. Valid Driver’s License and insurance eligibility for company vehicles. U.S. Citizenship. Must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Pass background screening and pre-employment physical including physical, drug screen, vision & hearing testing, medical condition certification, and back X‑ray.
