Staffed with compassionate healthcare professionals, including RNs, CNAs, Mental Health Assistants, Psychiatrists, and Mental Health Providers. Operating with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-1:9, our unit treats a variety of diagnoses such as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Patients may present with psychosis, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, mania, or exacerbations of mental illness. This role offers an opportunity to work collaboratively in a supportive environment focused on providing quality care and support to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.How you’ll contributeA Licensed Mental Health Counselor who excels in this role:Effectively utilizes strong clinical and assessment skills, cultural competence, and basic casework skills (referrals, advocacy). Provides therapy to assigned adult/geriatric patients per Behavioral Unit (BHU) policies, developing, and revising the treatment plan, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, establishing specific short- and long-term goals. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of the patient and patient representative. Documents the psychosocial evaluation, all one to one and group activities, therapies, and case management activities in the patient(s) chart. Documentation is accurate and meets all hospital, state and TJC requirements. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health errors. Knows responsibility during a "Code Gray" and provides crisis intervention as necessary. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team participating in treatment team meetings evaluating and updating treatment goals and interventions. Provides/conducts group education and group programs per established schedule with emphasis on providing suicide prevention education to patients and/or patient representative. Serves as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient protecting the patient's rights serving as a liaison between patients, referral sources, and community agencies. Maintains clinical and regulatory processes by demonstrating theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and a working knowledge of DSM-IV. Performs utilization review process for inpatient admissions, participating in discharge planning including coordinating patient transfers to other facilities and coordinating community resources. Provides treatment plan and discharge education along with resource referrals to patient and/or patient representative. Health & Fitness Center Access What we’re looking forMust be a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Human Services.
