divh2Student Radiologic Technologist (Casual)/h2pPerforms diagnostic imaging examinations, (X-ray, Ultrasound, MRI, OR Nuclear Medicine), under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist./ppstrongEssential Job Functions/strong/pulliRegular, consistent, on-site, and timely attendance./liliCollects pertinent data about the patient and procedure./liliConfirms patients identification and verifies the physician order./liliReviews the patients chart and/or the physicians order to determine the optimal imaging procedure for suspected pathology./liliVerifies the patients pregnancy status when appropriate./liliProvide information to the patient about the procedure./liliVerifies the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions./liliProvides accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand./liliProvides information to patient regarding preparations and any allergic reactions./liliAnalyzes the information obtained during assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis./liliDetermines whether patient has been appropriately prepared for procedure./liliSelects appropriate shielding and immobilization devices./liliAdministers contrast agents, (where applicable), according to established guidelines and under direct supervision of registered technologist./liliObtains written consent prior to IV contrast administration./liliEvaluates lab values prior to administering contrast agents./liliDetermines appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered./liliMonitors patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media./liliObtains optimum images during exam/procedure./liliSelects appropriate imaging equipment and technique./liliPositions patient according to exam protocol./liliUtilizes imaging equipment to maximize image quality./liliSends images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist./liliDocuments information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record./liliVerifies/enters correct order in to RIS/HIS./liliDocuments patient history in PACS system./liliDocuments any exceptions from the established guidelines./liliFacilitates correspondence between departments to assure procedures are performed in a timely manner./liliCoordinates with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER to accommodate STAT and ASAP orders./liliCoordinates patient care with all Imaging departments./liliMaintains equipment and workstations in optimum condition./liliPerforms daily QC on equipment where applicable./liliAssures adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained./liliImplements downtime procedures when necessary./liliAssists in coordinating rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime./liliFollows established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS downtime./liliAdheres to radiation and MRI safety policies and procedures where applicable./liliAttends radiation or MRI safety in-service or views video annually./liliEnsures adequate radiation safety to themselves, patients, and other personnel by following established policies and utilizing protection devices and equipment where applicable./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpstrongCompetency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)/strong/ppstrongRequired Qualifications/Experience/strong/pulliMust be enrolled in and have completed one year of an accredited Diagnostic Imaging program./liliMust be approved via competency prior to performing procedure./li/ulpstrongPreferred Qualifications/Experience/strong/pulliHS Diploma, GED or higher level of education./li/ulpstrongLicense, Certification Clearances/strong/pulliCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program./liliAct 33 with renewal/liliAct 34 with renewal/liliAct 73 FBI/li/ulpstrongSupervisory Responsibilities/strong/pulliThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department./li/ulpstrongPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work/strong/pulliIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.)./liliTravel may be expected locally between System locations./li/ulpstrongPhysical Demands/Requirements/strong/pulliSee chart below./li/ulpstrongEqual Employment Opportunity/strong/ppIndependence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
