As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide one-on-one support to individuals based on their Individual Support Plan (ISP). DSPs help individuals develop and maintain daily living skills, increase independence, participate meaningfully in their communities, and work toward their personal goals.

Support may include teaching, modeling, prompting, supervising, or providing hands-on assistance with personal care, household activities, meal preparation, community participation, and other activities of daily living based on each individual's needs and ISP.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in developing and maintaining daily living and independent living skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, and surrounding counties based on individual assignments and service needs.
• Teach, model, prompt, and reinforce appropriate personal hygiene and grooming practices.
• Provide assistance with personal care and activities of daily living when required based on the individual's needs and ISP.
• Assist individuals with meal planning, grocery shopping, food preparation, cooking, and maintaining safe and healthy eating habits.
• Teach, demonstrate, and assist with light household tasks such as cleaning, organizing, laundry, dishes, and maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment.
• Encourage individuals to participate as independently as possible in household responsibilities rather than completing tasks for them whenever appropriate.
• Assist with community participation, recreation, volunteer opportunities, shopping, appointments, and social activities.
• Help individuals develop practical community-living skills, including appropriate social interactions, communication, decision-making, and navigating community settings.
• Promote independence, self-advocacy, personal choice, dignity, and self-determination.
• Provide transportation and support individuals during community outings, appointments, and activities.
• Encourage positive relationships and meaningful connections with family, friends, and the community.
• Implement goals, strategies, and supports outlined in the individual's ISP.
• Observe individual progress and communicate relevant changes, concerns, or accomplishments to appropriate agency leadership.
• Complete required service documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with agency policies and applicable requirements.
• Complete required training and professional development.
• Promote and maintain the health, safety, and well-being of individuals at all times.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, dependable, patient, and committed to helping others succeed.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or within human services is preferred but not required.
• Ability to successfully complete all required background checks.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
• Ability and willingness to transport individuals in a personal vehicle as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to teach and model everyday living skills while encouraging individual independence.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate communication with agency leadership and the individual's support team.
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, is preferred.
