The Pediatric Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting pediatric dentists by ensuring a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for young patients during dental procedures. This position involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting during dental treatments, and managing patient records with a focus on pediatric care. The Pediatric Dental Assistant also educates patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices tailored to children's needs. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited dental assistant training program.
• Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent, as required by state regulations.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively with children in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience specifically in pediatric dental assisting.
• Knowledge of pediatric dental terminology and procedures.
• Familiarity with dental practice management software.
• Additional certifications such as Radiology Certification, Coronal Polishing and Sealant Placement, EFDA.
• Strong communication skills tailored to interacting with children and their families.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment before and after procedures to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Assist the pediatric dentist during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, suctioning, and ensuring patient comfort.
• Manage patient records, including updating medical histories and accurately documenting treatment details.
• Educate young patients and their caregivers on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care instructions.
• Maintain a child-friendly environment by engaging with patients gently and reassuringly to reduce anxiety.
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with other staff to ensure smooth office operations.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of dental supplies, ordering materials as needed to avoid shortages.
