About the Position

Job Title: RN - L&D Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital L&D RN experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM-C or AWHONN Must-Have: - Minimum 1 year current acute care hospital L&D RN experience - BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM-C or AWHONN Description: This position is for a travel RN in the Labor and Delivery specialty. The assigned unit focuses on the delivery room. The unit has 26 beds and a total staff of 112 members. Day shift consists of 1 Charge Nurse, 14 nurses, 2-3 surgical techs, and 2 unit clerks. Night shift consists of 1 Charge Nurse, 12 nurses, 2 surgical techs, and 1 unit clerk. Patient ratios for high-risk labor and c-sections are 1:1. Antepartum, PPROM, PTL on magnesium, and postpartum on magnesium have ratios of 1:2. Postpartum magnesium without baby and outpatients follow a 1:3 ratio. Equipment used on the unit includes Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, Monica Novii telemetry, and CPN monitors. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech/CPN. Typical procedures performed include C-sections, inductions, AROM, IUPC, DFM, and Doppler. Candidates should possess a compassionate, caring, friendly, patient, and solution-oriented personality. A team nursing approach is utilized, with all nurses collaborating to meet staffing needs. The leadership team is strong and supportive, with members able to assist on the floor as needed. The unit has many experienced nurses with extensive tenures. A new OB Clientist program provides attending support for residency and triage nursing.
