Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Overview Trinity Oakland, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care unit in Pontiac, is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join a dedicated team of three Neonatologists and six NNPs to care for complex neonatal patients. Employment Type: Full time Shift: Rotating Shift The role is full‑time and involves shift rotating across the unit support, transport team, and multiple locations, as appropriate. Key Responsibilities Act as the mid‑level provider for newborn patients by assessing, planning, and evaluating medical care under the direction of the attending pediatrician. Report accurately and concisely to the attending pediatrician and maintain problem‑oriented documentation. Order and interpret laboratory data and plain X‑ray films as appropriate. Write appropriate orders for medications, IV therapy, parenteral nutrition, blood products, and for admissions, transfers, and discharges. Attend high‑risk deliveries, resuscitate, and stabilize patients. Independently transport newborns to other hospital systems for transfer to the NICU at St.Joseph Mercy Hospital or to another NICU for surgical or other services. Attend and provide newborn care, resuscitation, and stabilization for all deliveries as required. Provide consultation to administrative, nursing, and medical staff. Direct and/or participate in the ongoing competency assessment program for maintaining advanced neonatal knowledge and skills of nursing staff. Direct and/or participate in nursing education and ongoing competency assessment. Submit appropriate billing in a timely manner. Initiate and pursue self‑development activities through readings, lectures, and formal educational programs. Participate as appropriate in quality improvement and the formulation, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures in the Family Birthing Center (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Labor and Delivery Unit and Mother/Baby Unit). Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of an NP program or Master’s Degree. State of Michigan License. Active and Current DEA registration. Specialty certification in the area of specialty preferred. ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification.
