You'll gain hands-on experience in power distribution design, field engineering, and utility infrastructure projects while collaborating with experienced engineers and industry leaders.This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who are passionate about energy, utilities, and designing solutions that make a lasting difference.What You'll DoAs a Distribution Engineer, you'll support the planning, design, and execution of electric distribution projects, including:Conduct site visits to gather field data, perform inspections, take measurements, document existing conditions, and compare findings against project plans.Evaluate transformer loading, pole loading, and other system components to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs.Review engineering standards, utility specifications, and local jurisdiction requirements.Develop and execute electric distribution system designs in accordance with utility standards and best practices.Create construction drawings and design packages for approval by federal, state, and local agencies.Prepare project documentation, material estimates, and material requisitions using industry-standard engineering software.Assess the impact of proposed construction projects on existing electric distribution systems.Develop solutions for conductor clearances, structural concerns, and system reliability improvements.Produce final design packages that support successful project implementation.Ensure designs meet applicable quality and compliance standards, including ISO requirements.Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and participate in regular project meetings.What We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.Approximately 1+ year of engineering experience, internships, co-ops, or related experience considered.Strong interest in Power, Energy, or Utility Engineering.Understanding of engineering calculations and distribution design principles.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn in a team-oriented environment.Preferred QualificationsHands-on design or engineering experience in utility, electrical, or infrastructure projects.Knowledge of electric utility systems, including primary and secondary distribution networks.Experience with industry software such as: Bentley Open Utility Designer (BOUD)SmallworldMaximoPole Loading SoftwareAutoCADMicroStationExperience supporting Duke Energy projects or utility distribution design programs.Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.Experience working with customers, developers, or external stakeholders.Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
