Reports to: Sales Manager

Location: Orangeburg, SC (Full-time/On-site)

Weekly Pay: $1,350 - $1,550/week (full comp structure below)

Job Summary

At Matlock’s Used Parts, we’re looking for a dedicated Counter Sales Associate to join our team. This is a solo position at the front counter, where you’ll often be the first and only point of contact for our customers on-site. You’ll receive comprehensive, one-on-one training during your first month to ensure you’re fully comfortable with our systems, sales process, and daily operations.

In your first week of training, you’ll primarily focus on looking up customer orders, confirming payments, and handing off parts, getting familiar with our workflow before progressing into sales and more complex tasks.

This is a sales and customer service role first. We’re looking for someone innovative, neat and organized, dependable, and who genuinely cares about doing the job right.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and caring manner
• Work independently at the front counter, handling both in-person and phone customers
• Identify and sell the correct parts using our system — covered in depth during your first month of training
• Promote products and services in an innovative and helpful way
• Answer phones and process orders professionally and efficiently
• Handle warranty claims and returns with a caring and solution-oriented approach
• On rare occasions when the site manager is unavailable, help a customer load a part (forklift training provided)

Compensation Structure

• First 90 days: Guaranteed salary of $1,350–$1,550/week, based on experience. Paid weekly while you train and build your book of sales.
• Path to commission: If you're earning more on commission than your guaranteed weekly compensation for two consecutive months, you move to full commission immediately, no need to wait out the full 90 days.
• Potential annual earnings: $75,000–$100,000/year for a solid performer; top performers earn well beyond that.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting/loading of parts and forklift use, only on the rare occasion the site manager is unavailable (training provided)
• Ability to stand and move around the counter area for extended periods

Minimum Qualifications

• Typing and basic math proficiency
• Strong communication skills
• Comfortable working independently
• Dependable, organized, and eager to learn

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of auto parts
• Prior experience with computer-based sales or inventory systems
