INVENTORY CONTROL SPECIALIST

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Inventory Control Specialist to join our operations team. This role is integral to our supply chain and production workflow, responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, tracking inbound freight and containers, and supporting quality and specification standards across our mattress manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong command of inventory systems, and takes pride in keeping materials flowing efficiently from supplier to production floor.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Inventory Management

•       Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels for raw materials, components, and finished goods to support uninterrupted mattress production

•       Process and track purchase orders, receipts, and inventory transactions in the ERP system

•       Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy

•       Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies, overages, and shortages in a timely manner

Freight & Container Tracking

•       Oversee inbound freight operations including container tracking from origin to delivery

•       Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics partners to ensure on-time arrivals

•       Monitor shipment status and proactively communicate delays or discrepancies to relevant stakeholders

•       Maintain accurate records of all inbound and outbound shipments

Specification Creation & Maintenance

•       Develop detailed product and material specifications in collaboration with engineering, design, and production teams

•       Maintain up-to-date spec documentation and manage version control processes

•       Work with suppliers to ensure materials meet defined specifications prior to order placement

•       Review and update specifications as product lines evolve or materials change

Qualifications

Required

•       2–4+ years of inventory control, warehousing, or supply chain experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

•       Proven experience with freight and container tracking in an import/export context

•       Strong proficiency in ERP or inventory management software systems

•       Experience creating and maintaining product or material specifications

•       Solid understanding of quality control practices and incoming inspection processes

•       Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory data and generate reports

•       High attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities

Preferred

•       Experience in the furniture, bedding, or mattress manufacturing industry

•       Familiarity with international shipping, import regulations, and customs documentation

•       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
