This role supports Specialized Solutions, which provides high-touch transportation and logistics solutions for customers whose needs go beyond traditional freight transportation - including high-value products, white-glove delivery, damage prevention, and real-time shipment visibility. The business offers nationwide blanket-wrap truckload and LTL services for shipments requiring specialized handling and multiple-person delivery teams, backed by 3.1 million square feet of warehouse space across 60+ locations and access to 1,400+ secure third-party facilities nationwide. Capabilities span high-value LTL shipping, white-glove delivery, reverse logistics, inventory management, warehousing, and large-scale project logistics and national rollouts.

THE OPPORTUNITY
CRST is seeking a Director - Finance to serve as the senior finance leader for our Specialized Solutions business. This is more than a traditional Controller role - it's a strategic, business-facing finance leadership position embedded in the leadership team, with the opportunity to shape decisions that drive the business forward.

You'll own financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for the business, while partnering closely with operational leadership to translate financial data into stronger business decisions. This is a chance to lead a stable, capable team, streamline and modernize a growing finance function, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership at a scale that matters.

HOW YOU'LL WORK

• Location : Onsite in Fort Wayne, IN

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Business Partnership : Serve as the primary strategic financial advisor to Specialized Solutions leadership, informing key business decisions
• Financial Leadership : Ensure the integrity of financial data, including oversight of month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, P&L analysis, and driver settlement
• Strategic Planning : Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the business, aligning plans with broader organizational goals
• Revenue Cycle Oversight : Oversee billing, invoicing, and collections activity to ensure accurate, timely revenue recognition
• Business Analytics : Provide financial analysis to support historical, planned, and forecasted results, staying apprised of industry trends and competitor performance
• Value Creation : Identify opportunities that drive customer value, revenue growth, and margin improvement
• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Drive cooperation across departments to execute strategic initiatives
• Executive Reporting : Prepare financial performance summaries and recommendations for executive leadership and the board of directors
• Team Leadership : Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, including people leaders and individual contributors, while fostering a data-driven culture
• New Business Support : Assist in pricing analysis and financial evaluation of new business opportunities
• Compliance : Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies

A track record of driving process improvement and using technology to modernize how finance work gets done.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• 10+ years of financial experience, including 5+ years in management roles, or industry equivalent, leading both people leaders and individual contributors
• Strong expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
• Experience working cross-functionally to align financial strategy with business goals
• Strong knowledge of financial controls, regulatory compliance, and risk management

GOING THE EXTRA MILE

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting
• CPA or CMA designation
• Experience in the transportation industry
• Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership and boards
• Strong business acumen and financial modeling skills to support scenario planning
• Data analytics and visualization software experience (e.g., Tableau or Power BI)
