The Work You Will Do: Environmental Specialist III - District Five / Intermodal Systems Development / Environmental Management This position is independent professional environmental work assessing environmental impacts of proposed Federal and State funded transportation projects and is responsible for completing tasks in focus areas related to contamination. This position will serve as the District Contamination Impact Coordinator.

Annual Salary Range: $53,386.58 - $69,088.52

Your Specific Responsibilities: This is independent professional environmental work assessing environmental impacts of proposed Federal and State funded transportation projects and is responsible for completing tasks in focus areas related to contamination. This position will serve as the District Contamination Impact Coordinator.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: The DOT, transportation or related project development, NEPA and linking planning and environmental review processes. Contract management practices. Project management practices. Skills in: Managing multiple tasks with multiple deadlines. Ability to: Think critically and problem solve. Read and interpret Construction plans. Use computer programs including database and GIS systems. Deal with the public in a courteous manner. Plan organize and complete assignments. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Work independently with minimal supervision. Collect, evaluate and interpret data.

Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements: Class "E" Driver's License is required.

Other Job-Related Requirements: Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must respond to emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) years of professional or nonprofessional experience (including internships or co-ops) in the field of transportation; natural, physical, social, or environmental sciences; archeology or cultural resources; environmental, or civil engineering to which the position is assigned; or Registration as a Professional Engineer and one (1) year of experience to which the position is assigned. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to four (4) years of the required experience. A master's degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, or transportation may substitute for up to six (6) years of the required experience. This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy.
