About the Role:

The Medical Assistant at UGH Urology plays a critical role in supporting urology healthcare providers by delivering high-quality clinical and administrative assistance. This position ensures smooth patient flow and efficient clinic operations by preparing patients for examinations, collecting medical histories, and assisting with procedures. The Medical Assistant acts as a liaison between patients and providers, facilitating clear communication and compassionate care. Additionally, this role involves managing medical records, scheduling appointments, and performing basic laboratory tasks to support diagnostic processes. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to an exceptional patient experience and the overall success of the urology practice through meticulous attention to detail and professional collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not mandatory.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a urology or specialty medical practice.
• Advanced certification in phlebotomy or EKG administration.
• Strong knowledge of urological terminology and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for urological examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and explaining procedures.
• Assist urologists during examinations and minor surgical procedures by handling instruments and ensuring patient comfort.
• Manage patient documentation, including updating electronic health records and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Schedule patient appointments, coordinate referrals, and communicate effectively with patients regarding follow-up care.
• Perform basic laboratory tests such as urine analysis and prepare specimens for further testing.
• Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment in compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize patient care and clinic workflow.
