At The Cardiovascular Center of Florida, we are committed to delivering advanced, compassionate, and patient-centered cardiovascular care. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our growing outpatient cardiology team.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) serves as an integral member of the clinical care team and is responsible for supporting physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and clinical staff in the delivery of high-quality patient care within an outpatient cardiovascular setting. This role provides direct clinical support through patient intake, vital signs, room preparation, clinical documentation assistance, procedural support, and coordination of daily clinical workflows.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake, obtain vital signs, update patient history, and prepare exam rooms for patient visits
• Assist physicians and APPs during examinations, diagnostic testing, and procedures within MA scope of practice
• Prepare, review, and organize patient charts and clinical documentation prior to appointments
• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system
• Perform delegated clinical tasks including EKGs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, wound care support, and medication administration as directed
• Monitor and communicate abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to providers and licensed clinical staff
• Maintain examination rooms, clinical supplies, and medical equipment to ensure cleanliness and operational readiness
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment in accordance with OSHA and infection prevention standards
• Support prescription refill workflows and medication-related documentation
• Communicate professionally with patients, providers, pharmacies, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams regarding patient care coordination
• Support scheduling coordination, patient communication, and additional clinical or operational workflows as needed
• Participate in workflow improvement initiatives, ongoing training, and organizational quality initiatives
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards
• Travel to multiple locations as scheduling needs permit, including our offices in Lake Mary, Oviedo, East Orlando, Lake Nona, and Kissimmee

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required
• Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical documentation required
• Knowledge of outpatient clinical workflows, infection prevention practices, and medical terminology required
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills required
• Minimum 1–2 years of outpatient or clinical healthcare experience preferred
• Prior cardiology or cardiovascular specialty practice experience strongly preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Current CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification preferred
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient cardiovascular environment while maintaining professionalism and patient-centered care
