Our organization is currently in search of a full-time Board Certified/Eligible Nocturnist – Internal Medicine Physician to deliver exceptional care within our innovative health care system, specifically catering to our Veteran population. The selected physician will serve as the attending physician.

This role is integrated into our teaching team. The attending physician will be responsible for mentoring residents, interns, and potentially medical students. Our organization is the primary teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy . Therefore, candidates must qualify for a faculty position at the University of Arizona .

Preference will be given to those who are board eligible or certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Additionally, candidates must hold current certifications in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association. Proficiency in essential Internal Medicine invasive procedures is required, with refresher training available in our state-of-the-art simulation lab. Candidates are also expected to obtain facility certification in airway management after completing local online training, simulation lab sessions, and hands-on practice. While experience in supervising and instructing residents is highly desirable, recent graduates in Internal Medicine are also encouraged to apply, as our university affiliate offers courses on effective teaching methods.

• Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens; non-citizens may only be considered if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy.

• Medical Degree: A Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic program is required.

• Licensure: A current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia is necessary.

• Residency Training: Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification eligibility is mandatory.

• Board Certification: Candidates must be board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

• Procedural Proficiency: Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in core internal medicine invasive procedures.

• Certifications: Current ACLS and BCLS certifications are required.

• Work Schedule: The position requires availability from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

The Tucson VA Medical Center is a 295-bed facility that offers training, primary care, and specialized health services across various medical fields for eligible Veterans.
