Job Overview Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Work Schedule: 2nd shift 1:45 pm-10:00 pm or 3rd shift 9:45 pm-6:00 am. Academic Requirements: Registered nurse license required; Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing preferred. Certifications: Good standing as a licensed RN with the State of Texas Board of Nursing, current BLS (PALS preferred), First aid, CPR, Emergency Behavior Intervention. Critical Responsibilities Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines applicable to this position. Provide triage services to assess patient needs, answer inquiries, provide teaching, and determine urgency and appropriate action. Use extensive knowledge of medical documentation to generate, decipher, and correct records in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Perform nursing duties in compliance with authorities and program protocols: active assessments, charting, scheduling, observations, isolation observations, wellness checks, immunizations, medication administration, and required reports. Ensure patient safety by assessing and monitoring health conditions, assisting with procedures, operating medical equipment, administering vaccines and medications, monitoring for side effects, and teaching patients and staff. Arrange and coordinate appropriate health services, including urgent, emergent, and preventative services for children in care. Conduct health assessments based on established protocols and accurately document findings, validating record systems for required facility documentation and reporting within required timeframes. Supervise, direct, and delegate tasks to execute medical services per healthcare plans and treatment orders, monitoring patients for improvement. Gather, collect, and clarify patients’ current condition and past medical history. Communicate with pharmacies to order prescription medications, verify deliveries for accuracy, and remediate discrepancies. Maintain adequate over‑the‑counter medication supplies for each service population facility and arrange proper disposal of unused and expired medications. Maintain documentation of controlled drugs, including reconciliation of all scheduled drugs used in the facility. Administer medications as ordered and complete accurate, timely documentation in electronic medical records and Medication Administration Record. Effectively communicate with Certified Nurse Practitioner and Lead Medical Coordinator for reporting concerning patient health. Collaborate with Lead Medical Coordinator and other medical staff to devise individual care plans and provide nurse support. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including evacuating children and staff during emergencies. Maintain confidentiality of health‑care records and information per HIPAA and Compass Connections protocols. Address other job duties as assigned or unforeseen matters requiring attention to maintain program functionality. Other Responsibilities Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work using sound judgment. Monitor established health‑care plans for service populations at the sites within the timeframe established by State and Federal partners. Recognize signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and sexually provocative behavior; implement professional response, reporting, and documentation procedures. Ensure accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies, regulatory requirements, and program timelines. Meet all program and federal partners’ documentation and process requirements. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. Pass a pre‑employment and biennial criminal background check. Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with staff, service providers, and professionals. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English. Work in a fast‑paced environment and make decisions based on program and service population needs, while maintaining emotional control and professional composure. Maintain computer literacy required for the position. Work effectively without intensive supervision, independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrate working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures. Provide current physical‑medical release and proof of immunizations, titers, or declinations for: MMR Varicella Hep B Hep A Tetanus PPD Meningococcal (preferred) Perform physical activity such as extensive walking, stretching, and bending as required. Work in a team environment and maintain professional people skills (oral, written, listening, non‑verbal communication).
