This position will provide exceptional customer service while safely and efficiently parking and retrieving guests’ vehicles. We provide a free vehicle parking and retrieval program at VA Medical locations for Military Veteran patients. VetPride Services prioritizes the recruitment and hiring of Veterans and military personnel.
Shift(s): Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-5:00pm
Hourly Rate: $17.75
Location: Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, 820 S. Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60612
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet valet customers in a professional manner upon their arrival/departure.
- Assist customers with opening doors and loading/unloading wheelchairs or walkers, as needed.
- Perform valet area access control responsibilities.
- Safely drive, park, and retrieve customer vehicles in a timely manner.
- Closely inspect all vehicles for damage and record findings on valet ticket.
- Secure all vehicles and return key tag and keys to the valet podium.
- Follow safe driving procedures and safety protocols at all times.
- Abide by all rules and regulations set by the VA.
- Report to duty in company issued uniform; personal hygiene and a professional appearance is expected at all times.
- Report any incidents, damages, or concerns to management promptly.
- Provide directions or information about the property when requested.
- Keep the valet area clean, organized, and presentable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid REAL ID-driver’s license in the state of employment.
- Will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background and DMV check.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to drive a manual (stick shift) vehicle.
- Regularly work outdoors in inclement weather including rain, snow, heat and cold.
- Must possess strong customer service skills and the ability to respond calmly and professionally when handling conflict.
- Consistent attendance and reliability required.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write basic English.
- Regularly stand for long periods (6-8 hours) and walk quickly.
- Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
- Must have the ability to work independently and within established guidelines, follow directions, and work well with others.
- Technical capabilities and basic computer knowledge.
Experience Requirements
- 1-year experience driving manual and automatic transmissions.
- Valet experience preferred, but not required.
