Digital and Social Media Specialist

What You’ll Do Support the planning and implementation of marketing and communications campaign activities across digital and social media channels. Develop, manage, and optimize high‑profile social media content aligned with campaign goals, messaging, audiences, and brand requirements. Implement social media marketing strategies to increase engagement, expand reach, and drive traffic to campaign websites, microsites, and digital properties. Support the development of campaign communication strategies, messaging frameworks, digital outreach plans, content strategies, and editorial calendars. Create, edit, publish, and optimize digital and social media content tailored to platform‑specific audiences, formats, algorithms, and best practices. Use social media listening, engagement, and analytics tools to monitor campaign conversations, audience sentiment, engagement trends, emerging issues, and performance data. Conduct research on target industries, audiences, and market development strategies to ensure campaign outreach reaches priority populations. Prepare campaign performance summaries, metrics updates, insights, and recommendations in collaboration with communications, creative, technical, analytics, and client‑facing teams. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, journalism, public relations, or a related field or equivalent experience. 4+ years of relevant professional experience to include experience creating, editing, publishing, and managing digital and social media content for marketing, communications, digital outreach, or public‑facing campaigns. U.S. citizenship required by the Federal government for this position. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting federal, state, local, nonprofit, public health, energy, environment, education, or other mission‑driven marketing and communications campaigns. Experience designing, building, or developing content for campaign microsites. Experience translating technical or complex subject matter into clear, engaging digital content. Experience working in a client‑facing consulting environment. Familiarity with paid, organic, and integrated digital media strategies. Experience applying accessibility, plain language, and inclusive communications best practices. Familiarity with Washington, DC‑area stakeholders, organizations, media markets, or public‑sector audiences. Familiarity with workforce development and recruitment marketing programs. Professional Skills Experience developing and managing social media content for high‑profile campaigns, organizations, clients, or public‑facing initiatives. Experience implementing social media marketing strategies to increase engagement, expand reach, and drive website traffic. Experience developing communication strategies, messaging, digital media content, outreach materials, content calendars, campaign reports, audience personas, digital outreach plans, or marketing campaign materials. Strong understanding of social media trends, platform‑specific best practices, content formats, algorithm behavior, digital engagement strategies, audience growth tactics, and social listening practices. Ability to use social media listening, engagement, and analytics tools to identify trends, monitor sentiment, support community engagement, assess campaign impact, and translate performance data into actionable recommendations. Ability to think creatively and contribute to solutions for clients’ communications challenges, including new approaches to influencer engagement or ways to visualize complex information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines, deliverables, and campaign priorities. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Sound judgment when managing public‑facing content and high‑visibility campaign communications. Ability to work independently while aligning with project, client, and brand requirements. Work Environment / Location This is a DC area‑based position with the opportunity to meet with clients and partners at client sites and partner office locations.
