Security Manager
The Security Manager provides leadership and oversight of hospital security operations to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and facilities. This role leads security personnel, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and partners with internal and external stakeholders to proactively manage risk, incident response, and emergency preparedness.
A Day in the Life of the Security Manager
As the Security Manager, your day begins with overseeing security operations across the hospital, ensuring appropriate staffing, coverage, and performance. You provide guidance and support to the security supervisor and officers while reinforcing expectations and policies.
Throughout the day, you will oversee incident response activities, investigations, and reporting, ensuring follow-up actions are completed. You collaborate with leadership, Risk Management, and external partners on safety trends, mitigation strategies, and compliance requirements.
You play a key role in emergency preparedness—coordinating drills, training, and response planning—and serve as a leader in workplace violence prevention and campus safety initiatives. You also assist with budget planning, resource allocation, and evaluating security technology and operational enhancements.
As the Security Manager, in all interactions, you will model professionalism, calm decision-making, and customer-focused service, helping create a safe, secure, and supportive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive security experience required
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in healthcare or complex environments strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license required
