Salary and Benefits PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends onqualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the rangeof (Revised) $63.89 per hour to $78.50 per hour. This is a temporary, hourly, per diem position. The position isnon-benefited and is not eligible for the CSU employee benefitsprogram. Employees are paid only for hours worked, and workschedules are based on department needs. About the Position Student Health and Counseling Services provides basic medical andmental health care to CSUEB students, and promotes healthy living.We strive to assist students in attaining an optimal state ofhealth, so they may achieve their academic and career goals. The Pharmacist performs general licensed pharmacist work and abidesby professional policies as defined and required by the CaliforniaBoard of Pharmacy. This position functions in accordance with CSUExecutive Orders, SHCS policies and procedures, and relevant stateand federal laws in providing pharmaceutical services and isresponsible for the overall operations of the pharmacy whileworking independently and taking direction from thePharmacist-in-Charge. Responsibilities The following duties are meant to illustrate the general range ofwork functions performed by a Pharmacist I; they are not meant tobe all-inclusive or restrictive. Work assignments may involverelated activities. Provide Pharmaceutical Services to Customers Compound, fill and dispense medications Provide information to students regarding proper use ofmedication- provide consultations Consult with and advise clinicians on drug selection, dosageand administration Provide up to date drug information on actions and sideeffects, availability, cost and possible alternate therapy. Maintain formularies, standard compendia on pharmaceuticals andreferences. Update drug and patient profiles Collect payment for medication(s) as needed. Submit billinginformation electronically if applicable. Provide lead work direction and instruct pharmacy technicians,pharmacy helpers, clerks, students and volunteers in the processingand fulfillment of prescriptions Facilitate sale of over the counter (OTC) medications Coordinate process of appropriate medication disposal Receive and maintain pharmaceuticals and supplies. Stockcabinet/supply of medication(s) to be dispensed by clinicians ifneeded Assist with immunizations as requested Perform Inventory Control Maintain medications in the pharmacy formulary and keeppharmacy stocked appropriately Ensure expired medications are returned/disposedofappropriately Help monitor stock of immunizations Maintain prescription records, controlled substances inventory,DEA inventory and all of other records of dispersion as needed tocomply with campus, state, and/or federal requests Help with monitoring of inventory of medications stored outsideof the pharmacy. Perform Administrative, Educational, Technical Tasks & Other Duties as Assigned Participates in various Health Center promotion event and/orcommittee meetings Participates in the adherence of policies and protocols Maintains pharmacy security. Help update licensing and regulatory documentation regardingpharmacy status as needed. Keep abreast of developments in professional field. Participate in continuous education to maintain licensure. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the laws andregulations pertaining to dispensing, storage, and recordkeeping ofdrugs, narcotics and poisons. Thorough knowledge of all drugs,chemicals and supplies required in the operation of the StudentHealth Center pharmacy. Working knowledge of automated pharmacysystems; and campus procurement and budgetary processes. General knowledge of pharmacy administration and the requirements ofserving as a Pharmacist-in-Charge. Abilities: Ability to compound and fill prescriptions;evaluate written prescription orders to determine ingredientsneeded and ensure proper dosages; review patient profiles againstprescriptions for potential drug interactions and allergies; serveas a resource to practitioners and other medical support staff inthe areas of pharmacology, drug combination, drug interaction, andalternative drug therapies; participate in the development andimplementation of pharmacy policies, procedures and protocols;prepare and maintain accurate records and reports; establish andmaintain effective working relationships with other health centerstaff and management; be sensitive to, communicate effectivelywith, and provide support to diverse patients; and provide leadwork direction to pharmacy support staff. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy froman Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) college ofpharmacy program or other program recognized by the board asdefined by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Equivalent toone year of experience as a licensed pharmacist workingindependently. License: Possess and maintain a valid pharmacist license asdefined and required by the California State Board ofPharmacy. Preferred Skills and Knowledge Experience working in a college or university student healthcenter, outpatient clinic, or similarly integrated healthcareenvironment. Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered service in adiverse educational, clinical, or institutional setting. Experience administering immunizations in a clinical,community, or retail pharmacy setting. Experience utilizing automated pharmacy dispensing systems andelectronic medical record systems, including systems such asPropharm/Pharmac. Experience with retail pharmacy operations, includingpoint-of-sale transactions, insurance processing, inventorymanagement, and related pharmacy workflows. Knowledge of Family PACT program requirements and billingregulations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including theability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing withpatients, healthcare providers, staff, and campus partners. Strong organizational and time-management skills with theability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate competingassignments, and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative andeffective working relationships within a diverse multiculturalenvironment. Proficiency using pharmacy-related technology and standardbusiness software applications to support clinical, operational,and administrative functions. Ability and willingness to attend off-site training andprofessional development programs as needed. Condition(s) of Employment Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan,as appropriate), that may include, but is not limited to: criminalrecords check, verification of academic credentials, licenses,certificates, credit history, professional references and/orverification of work history is required for employment.
