The role involves providing critical care for patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) combination unit. Key Responsibilities\n \n Provide specialized nursing care to patients with critical and complex health conditions. \n Monitor and assess patient conditions, performing necessary interventions. \n Titrate IV drips and manage medication administration per protocol. \n Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. \n Assist in the use of advanced technology and medical equipment such as ventilators and cooling systems. \n Participate in patient and family education regarding health care processes and discharge planning. \n Engage in professional development and maintain certifications related to critical care nursing. \n Unit Information\n \n Combination unit with 16 ICU beds and 14 PCU beds. \n Nurse-to-patient ratios typically are 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:3 in PCU. \n Supportive team environment emphasizing collaboration and teamwork. \n Qualifications\n \n Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience. \n Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. \n Experience with thermaguard/Zoll cooling technology is essential. \n Must have experience using the EPIC electronic medical record system. \n Previous travel nursing experience is preferred. \n Work Schedule\n \n Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM with occasional weekends as needed. \n Flexible scheduling with potential block scheduling based on unit needs. \n Rotation for holiday coverage may be necessary. \n Support Staff\n \n CNA support with a typical ratio of 1 CNA for every 8 patients. \n Continuous availability of respiratory therapists in the unit. \n Telemetry technicians assist in monitoring patient vital signs and rhythms. \n Cultural Environment\n This position offers a supportive and collaborative work culture with opportunities for outdoor activities in the surrounding area.
