Environmental Planner

We are seeking an Environmental Planner to support the delivery of sustainable development and infrastructure projects from early feasibility through to approval and implementation. You will provide environmental planning advice, coordinate assessments, and help ensure projects meet relevant legislative, policy, regulatory and community expectations. This is an opportunity to contribute to projects that balance environmental protection, social outcomes and practical delivery requirements.


Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing environmental planning reports, impact assessments, planning applications, environmental management plans and supporting documentation. You will coordinate inputs from technical specialists, consultants, project teams, government agencies and community stakeholders, ensuring advice is clear, accurate and delivered to agreed timeframes. You will also assist with environmental approvals, permit and consent processes, compliance monitoring, risk identification and the development of practical mitigation measures. Other duties may include undertaking site inspections, analysing environmental data, maintaining project records, responding to information requests and contributing to policy, strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.


To be successful, you will have a relevant qualification in environmental planning, environmental science, urban and regional planning, sustainability or a related discipline, together with demonstrated experience in environmental assessment, statutory planning or approvals coordination. Knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, planning frameworks and regulatory processes is essential. You will be an effective written and verbal communicator, able to explain complex environmental matters to technical and non-technical audiences and build constructive relationships with stakeholders. Strong organisation, analytical capability, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are required. Experience with project management, spatial information systems, consultation, infrastructure or development projects will be highly regarded.
