40 hours per week | 10-Month Academic-Year Position Includes 12-Month On-Campus Housing Academic year 2026-2027 About San Domenico San Domenico is an independent K–12 day and boarding school in Marin County, California, 30 minutes north of San Francisco. Founded in 1850, it is the oldest independent school in the State. The School serves approximately 680 students on a 515-acre campus, with a residential program enrolling students from more than 20 countries. San Domenico provides a unique boarding experience rooted in rigorous academics, meaningful student connections, and proximity to the cultural and educational resources of the Bay Area. About the Role Resident Faculty (RFs) provide supervision, mentorship, and guidance that support the intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth of boarding students. Serving as role models, mentors, and trusted adults, RFs play a central role in the daily life of the residential community. Successful RFs are relationship-centered adults who genuinely enjoy working with adolescents and are committed to supporting students as they grow and develop. They are caring, approachable, appropriately bounded, and able to build trust while maintaining clear expectations and sound professional judgment. RFs are visible, engaged members of the community who understand that meaningful relationships are built through consistency, presence, and everyday interactions. This is a highly interactive, student-facing role that requires regular evening and weekend work, shift-based scheduling, and active participation in residential life. Successful RFs are flexible, dependable, and energized by the rhythms of a boarding school environment, where schedules, student needs, and community responsibilities may change from day to day. Resident Faculty contribute wherever needed in support of the community and approach their work with humility, a sense of humor, and a willingness to learn. They recognize that life in a boarding community requires adaptability, teamwork, and a shared commitment to student development and well‑being. As a condition of employment, On-Campus Resident Faculty are required to reside in a housing unit within a dormitory on the School's campus. This position reports to the Director of Residential Life. Schedule Responsibilities Resident Faculty live on campus and work assigned shifts throughout the academic year. This position requires regular evening, overnight on-call, and weekend availability. Weeknight shifts are generally scheduled from 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. or 6:45 p.m.–11:30 p.m. Responsibilities may include: Supervising students after school and during evening hours Checking students in after school Driving off-campus trips and activities Attending dinner with students Supervising evening study hall and supporting academic success Monitoring student whereabouts and adherence to community expectations Supervising evening activities and free time Conducting end‑of‑night room and dorm checks *Weekend shifts are generally scheduled from 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., or 6:45 p.m.–11:30 p.m. Responsibilities may include: Supervising students on campus and during off‑campus activities Driving off‑campus trips and excursions Conducting room and dorm checks Supporting student engagement and community activities Providing ongoing supervision and responding to student needs *Work schedules include regular weekend assignments; therefore, weekend availability is required. Key responsibilities include: Support the mission of the school by fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community that promotes personal growth, accountability, independence, respect, and student well‑being. Resident Faculty serve as mentors and role models, helping students develop the skills and character necessary for success in school, college, and beyond. Build positive relationships with boarding students and foster a culture of integrity, respect, independence, and community engagement. Supervise students in the residence halls, ensuring adherence to boarding schedules, curfews, study hall expectations, and community standards. Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and supportive residential environment. Participate in duty rotations, including evening, weekend, overnight, opening/closing weekend, and occasional holiday coverage as assigned. Respond appropriately to student concerns, emergencies, and campus safety situations in accordance with school protocols and emergency procedures. Conduct dorm meetings, monitor student well‑being, and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding residential life matters. Enforce Boarding Program policies and expectations consistently Transport students to appointments, activities, and school‑sponsored events as needed. Attend required meetings, training, and professional development opportunities, and maintain accurate student records and communications. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective coverage, student support, and the smooth operation of the Boarding Program. Qualifications Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and significant experience working with youth in a residential, camp, or community setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers Computer proficiency (iPad, Mac computer, Gmail/Google Drive, experience with REACH, preferred) Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Experience with and demonstrated interest in teenagers/teen programs Dormitory experience preferred *Because driving school passenger vehicles is a core function of this role, candidates must meet strict institutional insurance standards: License Requirement: Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License (Class C) with an insurable, clean driving history Compensation This is an hourly, non-exempt position. The pay is $33.02 per hour with lunch/dinner provided, depending on shift time. This position is eligible to participate in all benefit plans and programs that the School offers to regular full‑time full‑year staff, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, and 403(b) contributions.
