Reading Interventionist

The Lansing School District serves more than 10,000 PreK‑12 students across 25 schools in the diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. Our district offers a wide range of innovative educational options and is dedicated to providing an excellent, safe, and nurturing learning environment for all students. We are hiring Literacy Intervention Teachers. In this role, you will provide pull‑out support, one‑to‑one tutoring, and other supplemental services to ensure that no student falls behind in literacy. You will collaborate with school leaders, educators, parents, and students to help every student meet reading grade‑level goals by the end of the year. Humanistic teaching practices are central to this position. You will build inclusive, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively toward common learning objectives. In addition, you will serve as an instructional coach, supporting other teachers in the building. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education or an ELA‑related field (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Journalism) Prior experience working with students in an urban educational setting Alignment with the Lansing School District’s mission and values Preferred Qualifications Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a reading endorsement (BR or BT) Teaching experience in an urban setting Training in CRPBIS or related instructional methodologies Job Responsibilities Demonstrate passion for and expertise in reading instruction Deliver world‑class ELA instruction to students who need intervention support Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction Incorporate feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions to grow professionally Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment Perform additional duties as assigned to best support the district’s mission Equal Employment Opportunity We champion diversity, equity, and inclusion and provide equal opportunities to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or sexual orientation.
