Senior Firmware Engineer - Greenbelt, MD | Hybrid: 3 days onsite

ClientMind Recruiting is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer for a growing communications technology company. This role offers the opportunity to develop high-performance firmware for advanced microcontroller-based systems while providing technical leadership to the engineering team.

What You’ll Do

\n
• Design and develop embedded firmware using C/C++
\n
• Build low-level drivers, hardware abstraction layers, and communication interfaces
\n
• Develop for bare-metal and RTOS environments
\n
• Debug complex hardware and firmware issues using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
\n
• Optimize performance, memory usage, power consumption, and system reliability
\n
• Create and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests
\n
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and product teams
\n
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
\n

What You’ll Bring

\n
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience
\n
• Strong C/C++ programming skills
\n
• Proficiency with Git and embedded debugging tools
\n
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
\n
• U.S. citizenship
\n

Preferred Experience

\n
• Embedded Linux and custom Linux platforms
\n
• FPGA, SoC integration, or low-level hardware design
\n
• Python scripting for automation and testing
\n
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M, STM32, i.MX, or similar microcontrollers
\n
• Expertise in bare-metal and RTOS architectures
\n
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet
\n
