Production Manager

Job Summary Plans, directs, and coordinates the operations of production, machinery, processing, and packaging departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recruit, interview, and hire Assistant Manufacturing Managers, Line Managers, and MITs. Communicate hiring criteria to recruiters for Assistant Manufacturing Managers, Line Managers, and MIT positions. Coach and mentor Assistant Manufacturing Managers, Line Managers, and MITs in the interviewing and hiring process. Monitor team member turnover, identify key improvement factors, and implement changes. Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis. Create and validate training curriculum in the area of responsibility. Build and manage succession plans for Assistant Manufacturing Managers, Line Managers, and MITs. Establish clear measurable goals and objectives to determine individual and team results, including operational metrics, project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles, and personal development goals. Solicit ongoing feedback from Workcell members, Business Unit Manager, and Manufacturing Manager regarding the Manufacturing Manager’s contribution to the team. Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to Manufacturing Managers based on feedback. Encourage staff to recognize and celebrate accomplishments. Conduct team member evaluations professionally and on time. Drive continuous improvement in key operational metrics and achievement of organizational goals. Coordinate activities of large teams, keeping them focused during crises. Manage recognition and rewards fairly and consistently within the area of responsibility. Provide a communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department. Organize verbal and written communication clearly and with an appropriate business style. Encourage input from team members and adapt communication style accordingly. Understand campus strategic directions and define, develop, and implement a manufacturing strategy aligned with them. Keep the Manufacturing and Operations Manager regularly updated on strategy execution. Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems, improving value creation. Use tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving for continuous improvement. Provide feedback to Business Unit Managers, WCMs, Functional Managers on cost and trend analysis. Prepare timely forecasts for the department and compare forward forecast results to historical data for trend assessment. Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting, analysis, and metrics management. Assess adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by workcells. Ensure procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant. Propose new ideas and suggestions for improvement and adopt best‑in‑field practices. Demonstrate a commitment to customer service by anticipating needs, meeting expectations, and resolving issues quickly. Periodically engage directly with workcells during challenging periods or product launches to resolve problems. Promote a “back‑to‑basics” mindset and lead by example through consistent actions. Establish new measurement systems where appropriate. Share knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to promote best practices throughout the organization. Ensure 100% adherence to company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety and Quality standards. Handle all sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Read, analyze, interpret, and communicate technical, financial, and legal documents effectively. Interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form. Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position, as directed by supervisor. Comply with company security policy procedures. Education and Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. Eight years of experience, including five in a manufacturing supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
