Biomedical Engineer for AI Model Training

Biomedical engineering experts apply engineering and biomedical knowledge to design domain-specific prompts, evaluate large language model outputs on biomedical topics, and improve model behavior through subject-matter review and targeted feedback.

• Design and refine domain-specific prompts for large language models in biomedical engineering domains.
• Evaluate and rate LLM responses for accuracy, clarity, and relevance to biomedical engineering concepts.
• Conduct independent research on biomedical topics, using AI tools as an aid to inform evaluations and prompt design.
• Document findings and provide actionable feedback to improve model performance in specialized subdomains.
• Participate in assigned projects as placement and availability permit; work may vary by domain and over time.

• Junior, senior, or graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering.
• Attended or graduated from a top 20 undergraduate institution.
• Comfortable working primarily asynchronously and collaborating with teams affiliated with leading AI research groups.
• Confident that your domain expertise can exceed current AI systems in explaining key concepts and solving domain problems.
• Willingness to learn new skills and contribute to AI development across related disciplines.

• Remote, asynchronous role with flexible scheduling.
• Part-time commitment, approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
• Work is project-based and placement into specific projects depends on project availability; the program runs year-round but project opportunities vary by domain.

Up to $50/hr (depending on the project)

• Open to U.S.-based doctoral students, candidates, and recent graduates who hold valid work or training authorization, for example F-1 with OPT, J-1, or H-1B.
• Applicants are responsible for confirming their own visa or training authorization compliance with their program or sponsor before applying.
• Not able to accommodate candidates on STEM OPT who require a new Form i-983; candidates with an already approved i-983 are not impacted. Applicants on pre-graduation OPT, CPT, J-1, or H-1B are not impacted. These eligibility conditions may change in the future.
