Shipping Supervisor

1st Shift - Shipping SupervisorThe Shipping Supervisor oversees first-shift shipping and receiving operations, working as a hands-on leader of a small team. This role manages daily shipping activities, ERP documentation, and material handling while actively participating in tasks such as deburring, etching, shot peening, packing, and palletizing. The position ensures accurate processing of purchase orders, shipment documentation, and customer notifications while maintaining a smooth and efficient workflow in a busy manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise a team of approximately three employees in the shipping and receiving department.Work hands-on alongside the team to complete daily department responsibilities and production goals.Assist with deburring, etching, shot peening, packing, and palletizing of manufactured shafts and related components.Handle all ERP system documentation and related paperwork for shipping and receiving activities.Process purchase order generation and receipt within the ERP system.Prepare and manage shipment picklists, bills of lading, and packing lists to ensure accurate and timely shipments.Maintain and update a daily shipment tracker to monitor outgoing orders and delivery status.Create and send customer advanced shipment notices to keep customers informed of shipment schedules.Train new employees on department processes, safety procedures, ERP usage, and shipping documentation requirements.Operate material handling equipment as needed to move, load, and unload materials and finished products.Support inventory-related activities tied to shipping and receiving, helping ensure accurate counts and proper documentation.Collaborate with other departments to coordinate shipments and meet production and delivery timelines.Ensure compliance with company procedures and shipping standards to maintain quality and reliability of outbound products.Essential SkillsProven experience in shipping and receiving operations.Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing employees in a shipping or warehouse environment.Ability and willingness to work hands-on alongside the team in all department tasks.Experience using ERP systems for shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation.Proficiency in processing and managing packing lists, bills of lading, and shipment tracking information.Experience with general packing and palletizing procedures.Familiarity with inventory-related processes connected to shipping and receiving.Capability to operate material handling equipment safely and effectively.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in a manufacturing environment, particularly with machined or metal components.Comfort working with multiple types and sizes of shafts and related equipment.Ability to learn and adapt to specific ERP workflows and customer documentation requirements.Strong attention to detail for accurate documentation and shipment verification.Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and other departments.Organizational skills to manage multiple shipments, documents, and daily priorities.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Willoughby, OH.Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $65780.00 - $77220.00/yr.
