Speech Pathologist

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: Valid N.Y.S. teaching certificate in the Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped/ Speech and Language Disabilities area

QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED:

Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State (strongly preferred).
Strong diagnostic abilities to assess individual students' communication skills and monitor progress using a variety of assessment tools.
Desire and knowledge to balance students' social/emotional and academic/intellectual needs.
Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with parents, staff and students.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary academic teams in lesson and therapy planning.
Knowledge of strategies to support the areas of literacy and writing.
Comprehensive knowledge of therapy planning that incorporates diverse learning modalities and differentiated instructional outcomes; skilled in using assessments to guide and adjust individualized therapeutic approaches.
Uses varied instructional methods and assessments to support:

Engaged learning
Higher-order thinking skills
Meaningful, authentic use of knowledge
Integration of 21st century skills
Multiple Intelligences

Effective behavior management strategies that emphasize student engagement and foster academic and/or therapeutic success.
Commitment to therapy development, professional development, flexible teamwork, and instructional technology
Knowledge of special education law and the IEP process, including development of speech-language goals aligned with educational outcomes.
Flexibility and adaptability to support a wide range of student needs and collaborate across multiple classrooms and grade levels.
Strong documentation and organizational skills for timely completion of IEPs, reports, and Medicaid billing
