Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Reports To: Controller

Position Category: Full Time

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Controller, the Accounting Specialist will be responsible for all administrative duties related to the Foundation, Waterfront Drive, invoicing and collecting hospital/school payments.

Essential duties:

 

• Deposit Foundation checks and work with laboratory staff on accounting reports
• Process AP Foundation checks via the Sage system
• Deposit Waterfront Drive checks 
• Process AP/dividend checks for Waterfront Drive via the Sage system
• Process the annual 1099 forms for the Foundation and Waterfront Drive
• Manage monthly closing process for Foundation and Waterfront Drive
• Send hospital and school invoices on a weekly/monthly basis
• Follow-up with vendors regarding delinquent payment
• Process payments and post them accurately to the general ledger
• Post cash receipts daily for UOI in Sage
• Perform BCBS monthly report
• Sort PO Box mail
• Assist with month-end close and accounting processes for UOI and ancillary companies with team members 
• Additional duties assigned by the CEO and Upper Management

Requirements:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with a strong foundation in financial principles
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, OneDrive, etc.
• Ability to work independently
• High Level of attention to detail, research analysis and analytical skills, and effective communication/customer service skills
• Decision making and problem-solving resolution skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with all employees
• Performs independently within the department’s policies and practices
• Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
