Accounting Manager (Manufacturing)

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting, cost accounting, and monthly close processes within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financials, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting strategic business decisions.

The ideal candidate brings a strong manufacturing accounting background, leadership experience, and thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven setting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and internal controls
• Lead financial audits and serve as liaison with external auditors
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure timely reconciliations

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

• Oversee cost accounting functions including cost structures, variance analysis, and profitability
• Manage inventory valuation and coordinate physical inventory audits
• Partner with operations to optimize material, labor, and overhead costs

Process Improvement & Systems

• Identify and implement process improvements across accounting functions
• Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
• Support ERP system enhancements and implementations

Leadership & Team Management

• Supervise and mentor accounting team members (AP, AR, Cost Accounting)
• Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience (manufacturing environment required)
• Prior leadership or management experience
• CPA or CMA preferred; Big 4 experience a plus

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills
• Expertise in inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally

Work Environment

• Onsite position
• May require extended hours during month-end close and audits

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or MBA
• Experience with process improvement initiatives
• Familiarity with SOX compliance
