Design Technician III

Responsibilities Develops and documents solutions related to institution's ongoing remodeling needs. Produces construction documents for projects, any of the following disciplines: architectural, interiors, mechanical, and electrical drawings. Maintains and develops institutional Building and Campus Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) databases and other institutional facilities databases. Provides and maintains building and campus infrastructure system drawings for maintenance and design. Participates in developing and applying facilities standards. Serves as a resource or advisor to the institution on facilities issues as requested. Develops, modifies, and updates reference standards, design standards, and general specifications under supervision of architects and engineers. Acts as a key technical resource in Section and Division initiatives involving the implementation of CADD, databases, and related technologies. Participates in the development and enhancement of CADD production tools. Serves as a technical resource to other facilities groups as appropriate. Must be able to function independently and manage and organize large workload for timely completion of projects. Performs lead role in providing mentorship, quality control, and direction. Qualifications High School diploma and 2 years of post‑secondary technical training in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) or an associate’s program that includes CADD/BIM as part of the curriculum in a related field of architecture, engineering and/or construction studies and 8 years of experience working in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction fields; OR a bachelor’s program that includes CADD/BIM as part of the curriculum in a related field of architecture, engineering and/or construction field and 6 years of experience working in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction fields. Five years of healthcare design experience required. Bachelor’s in Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management or Construction is preferred. Good understanding of building mechanics, knowledge of building materials, equipment and construction techniques, good understanding of life safety codes, building codes, and standards; ability to adapt codes to specific design conditions and solutions; the ability to read and interpret construction documents, construction details, and specifications for all types of buildings. Responsible for maintaining own technical competency and growth. Technical proficiency in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft software and related computer software applications. Must be organized and able to handle the pressure associated with heavy project load and tight timelines. Must have strong human relations and communications skills in order to interact with supervisors, administrators, physicians and outside vendors. Able to carry out all assigned tasks efficiently, timely and effectively. Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others. Preparation and experience to achieve future licensure is preferred. Additional Information This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship; we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position.
