Registered Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night Shift - 12 x 3

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Defined responsibilities are performed in all patient populations and in all patient service areas.

• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess patient condition.
• Determine the most suitable method of administering inhalants and medications in accordance with physician's orders.
• Evaluate the appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators.
• Ensure specified parameters of treatment and administer medicinal gases and aerosol drugs to patients.
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gas levels.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises.
• Conduct pulmonary function tests for physician diagnosis.
• Consult with physicians in the event of adverse reactions and maintain patient records.
• Assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and respond to code situations.

• Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program.
• 2 years of experience is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) licensure.
• NRP may be required for certain facilities.
• State Licenses including PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73.
