What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care for pediatric patients in the PICU, including monitoring and managing critically ill children
• Titrate medications such as pressors, insulin, Heparin, and sedation agents
• Perform procedures including IV insertion, CVL placement, wound care, and drains management
• Collect blood samples and perform assessments using telemetry equipment
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including Intensivists, Respiratory Therapists, and hospitalists
• Assist with patient education and support families during critical care situations
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and documentation protocols

What You Need

• Active RN license in Louisiana or ability to license promptly
• Minimum of 2 years PICU experience; cross-trained candidates preferred
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS; NRP preferred
• Strong skills in IV placement, telemetry, titration, and critical care procedures
• Ability to pass EKG competency exam
• Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR preferred
• Flexibility to work 12-hour night shifts and rotate weekends and holidays

About the Assignment

Join a family-oriented, traveler-friendly unit known for excellent support and professional development. The unit features a 6-bed PICU with occasional coverage of NICU and adult ICU/Stepdown units for cross-trained staff. You'll receive thorough orientation followed by two shadow shifts to ensure smooth transition. The hospital maintains a culture of teamwork, flexibility, and dedication to quality care.
