RN Med-Surg Float

Job Summary:

The Float Registered Nurse (RN) with Medical-Surgical experience will provide skilled nursing care primarily on the Med-Surge floor with potential coverage in the Emergency Department as needed. The role requires strong clinical skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning, with a focus on collaboration within the interdisciplinary team. The RN will work night shifts and must hold an active Alaska RN license along with BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. This position includes housing provided near the hospital in Cordova, Alaska. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Alaska.
• Minimum of 2 years Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift work with float responsibilities including possible Emergency Department coverage.
• Housing provided and paid for, located within half a mile of the hospital; options include shared or private accommodations.
• No pets allowed in provided housing.
• Work environment includes a small fishing community with outdoor recreational activities and mild winter climate.

Scheduling:

• Night shifts only.
• Float position with schedule determined by unit needs between Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department coverage.
• Training starts December 3, 2026; official start date December 10, 2026.
