Full time 40 weekly hours, rotating shifts with attractive benefits. Location is the Philadelphia Campus./ppCST certification is required. At least one-year direct operating room experience preferred./ppThe Surgical Technologist I is an integral member of the surgical team. The Technologist I works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse/Circulating Nurse. He/she functions in a scrub role, providing assistance to the operating surgeon and assistants. He/she also provides assistance in preparations for procedures and the clean-up afterwards. This individual works collaboratively with the entire surgical team./ppWhat you will do:/pulliFunctions in scrub role during the various surgical procedures and provides assistance in all areas of patient care./liliCollaborates with RN and physicians in developing a plan of care for each patient./liliCollaborates with RN in maintaining a safe, organized, clean, and comfortable environment for patients./liliScrubs for routine and complex procedures./liliConsistently demonstrates aseptic practice as defined in AORN Recommended Practices./liliDemonstrates knowledge of anatomy, procedures, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies by anticipating the surgical needs at the field./liliAssists physicians and RN with monitoring and ongoing assessments throughout the surgical procedure./liliAssists with transportation of patients, as needed./liliAssists physicians and RN with emergency situations./liliExhibits proficiency in each of the surgical specialties that he/she works./liliDemonstrates knowledge and ability to expertly prepare and operate standard equipment (e.g. nitrogen powered drills, balancing of microscopes, basic audio-visual equipment) prior to and during the various specialty procedures./liliDemonstrates knowledge and skill to expertly prepare, program, and operate specialized equipment (e.g. navigational systems, lasers, cusa) prior to and during various specialty procedures./liliObtains and assembles positional devices (fracture tables, Jackson tables, cerebellar headrests)./liliPractices safety precautions throughout the perioperative phase of patient care./liliHandles all sharps in a safe and protective manner in consideration of self and others in supportive roles, such as Core Techs, environmental services, and CPD staff./liliParticipates in time-outs prior to the start of surgical procedures according to hospital policy guidelines./liliVerifies medications, concentrations, expiration dates of all medications received on the sterile field in concert with the circulating RN./liliHandles and dispenses medications, irrigation solutions, and flushes (e.g. epi: 1:1000, local anesthetics, antibiotic irrigation) to surgeon within the sterile field./liliHandles, prepares, and dispenses hemostatic agents (e.g. thrombin, tisseal, floseal) to the surgeon within the sterile field./liliAccountable for the disposal of all bio-hazard materials and sharps./li/ulpEducation Qualifications:/pulliHigh School Diploma / GED Required/liliTechnical Diploma Surgical Technologist Required/li/ulpExperience Qualifications:/pulliAt least one (1) year operating room experience Preferred/li/ulpSkills and Abilities:/pulliAbility to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing./liliAbility to prioritize and organize tasks according to Units needs./liliAbility to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships./liliAbility to work under pressure./li/ulpLicenses and Certifications:/pulliCertified Surgical Technologist - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). - within 12 months - Required or/liliCertified Surgical Technician (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). - within 12 months - Required and/liliCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex.
