Position Summary The Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field. Position Details Status: Full‑Time Shift: Days (Four 10‑hour variable shifts Mon‑Fri between 6:30‑7:00 am) FTE/Hrs: 1.0 / 40 Schedule: Four (4) 10‑hour variable shifts Mon‑Fri between 6:30‑7:00 am. Position Requirements Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician Program or have previous on‑the‑job training in surgical technology. Licensure: N/A Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required or within 90 days of hire. Experience: 1+ year of surgical experience preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Essential Job Functions Maintain sterile field during surgical procedure through consistent application of aseptic technique. Perform scrub duties in an accurate, concise, and timely manner. Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility by performing scrub duties for a variety of orthopedic surgical procedures. Readily identify locations and secure supplies/equipment in the department. Use communication skills to achieve desired outcomes and promote teamwork. Promote team concept by demonstrating commitment and involvement among co‑workers and other members of the health care team. Follow risk management practices to provide a safe environment for the patient, co‑worker, and hospital. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Maintain professional appearance, behavior, and work environment. Enhance personal and professional development. Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission. Perform all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated. Physical Requirements This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work. Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre‑employment physical and drug testing.
