Busboys and Poets is seeking dedicated servers to join a fast‑paced, guest‑centric team. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, taking accurate orders, and maintaining a clean dining area. Job Type: Variable Compensation: Base pay is $10 per hour plus tips. Top servers earn $25–$30 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of $17.50 per hour. Company Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with 100% match of the first 4% and 50% match of the next 2% 1 week sick leave per year Paid parental leave Company‑paid life insurance Pet insurance And more benefits Job Duties Guide guests through menus and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of our items Take accurate orders and coordinate with team members to serve food and beverages that exceed expectations Check patrons’ identification to ensure age requirements for alcohol consumption are met Provide excellent customer service with a smile, including 90‑second greeting times, 3‑minute check‑in, and closing service by collecting payment and creating a memorable experience Assist in maintaining a clean, sanitized, and safe environment: bussing tables, rolling silverware, wiping surfaces, stocking service areas, mopping, restocking items, etc. Help hosts/hostesses by answering phones for reservations or take‑away orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests as needed Qualifications At least 18 years old to handle alcohol Weekend availability and ability to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week Enjoy interacting with people Busboys and Poets operates eight multi‑concept restaurant, bar, event, and bookstore spaces across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, including 14th & V, 450K, Anacostia, Brookland, Columbia, Hyattsville, Shirlington, and Takoma.
