Women’s Head Volleyball Coach Job Location: Muskegon, Michigan, United States Position Type: Part-Time Individuals hired in this position will be employed by EDUStaff in contract with Muskegon Community College. General Description Assumes responsibility for all aspects of the program, planning short and long‑term objectives, demonstrating technical expertise in the basics of the sport, and teaching fundamentals and advanced level skills and game strategies to student‑athletes. Recruit players, determine schools to visit, advise on selection of team members, supervise practice sessions, scout future opponents, provide expert advice, mentor student athletes, monitor academic progress, and assist with academic requirements. Responsible for coaching, practice, conditioning, travel arrangements, and recruitment. Primary focus is on student‑athletes’ academic success and development. Qualifications High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Two years minimum coaching experience. Ability to recruit talented student athletes. College level teaching and coaching skills. Demonstrated ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and socio‑economic backgrounds. Possess a strong knowledge and love of the sport. Knowledge of sport training and strategies. Demonstrated ability to project a positive and professional image in pressure situations. Demonstrated character and values to represent MCC by leading, motivating, and mentoring student athletes. Abide by the rules and regulations of the leagues in which you will be competing. Strong inter‑personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with a variety of students. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and outside persons. Demonstrated use of tact, judgment and discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality when working with students, faculty/staff and others. Demonstrated history of dependability and punctuality. Ability to stay calm while working under pressure in a fast‑paced environment. Highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication to the mission of the College. Ability to demonstrate appropriate problem‑solving skills. Demonstrated excellence in both oral and written communication skills to cover a variety of audiences. Flexible scheduling to allow for evening and weekend work as scheduled by your supervisor. Responsible for instruction and facilitating student learning; committed to student recruitment, retention and success; assessment of learning, development of curriculum and use of instructional delivery modes utilizing both traditional and non‑traditional methodology. Essential Functions Teach collegiate level skills and knowledge to the student‑athletes, both verbally in English and by physical demonstration or participating in drills/sport. Appropriately manage & reconcile expenses within allotted team budget. Provide leadership and mentoring to all assistant coaches. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be approved through a background check to drive college vehicles. Be loyal and supportive of all sports of the Muskegon Community College Intercollegiate Program. Provide moral support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well‑being of the student‑athletes. Be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. Prolonged standing/walking/sitting. Prolonged use of computer/telephone (hand/eye strain). Motivate students and the team while demonstrating problem‑solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of MCC. Communicate efficiently and relate well to the students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. Maintain, support, and encourage compliance with NJCAA Sportsmanship Policy. All other duties as assigned.
