Flight Data Translation Engineer Location: Seattle, WA Position Overview As a Flight Data Translation Engineer, you will automate flight data translations within Boeing Global Services, delivering cutting‑edge flight data analytics products to commercial aviation customers. You will collaborate with aviation SMEs, software architects, developers, and data scientists to support product development and life‑support. You will work with portfolio leadership, development teams, and stakeholders to implement flight data management. Responsibilities Leverage data and engagement insights to advance flight safety, fleet reliability, and sustainability. Collaborate closely with engineering, DevOps, product management, and airline customers in an agile environment. Ensure high‑quality aviation domain data is available for advanced insights for internal teams and customers. Understand customers’ flight operations and analytics needs, providing innovative solutions. Configure, test, and validate aircraft safety, maintenance, sustainability, and reliability data models for product development, and create documentation. Define and validate experiments using Machine Learning under Lead Data Architect or Product Management. Ensure data integrity across entire pipeline using ARINC 717, ARINC 767, and other protocols across aircraft types. Identify and troubleshoot data integrity issues to provide exceptional customer experience. Employ expertise in database and schema design to anticipate stakeholder data needs. Perform hands‑on technical work: data, utilities, tooling, and flight data/integration support for product team and customers. Work with lead data architect and product managers to shape analytic product strategy. Undertake additional tasks, projects, and initiatives as needed. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry. 1+ years of progressive experience in software development and design. Experience working with aerospace systems ARINC standards (ARINC 717, 767). 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. Preferred Qualifications 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. Experience with cloud solutions. Proficient in programming (Java or Python) and SQL. Experience in data science and/or data analytics. Advanced experience in business intelligence tools, statistics, and data modeling. Experience in a global technology organization managing many stakeholders. Experience with airline safety, maintenance engineering, avionics or flight data recording. Experience with Airbus and Boeing aircraft operations.
