Position Overview

The HR Business Partner drives our mission by supporting Operations and working with employees across the business to ensure Eagle Materials is a great place to work for everyone. This is a hands-on role that provides support in the areas of recruiting, coaching/development, and employee engagement.

What You’ll Do

• Manage the recruitment and selection process and implement creative ways to source qualified talent.
• Oversee onboarding, orientation, employee status changes, and offboarding processes to ensure effective employee experience and accurate, timely documentation.
• Provide visible, hands-on HR support across manufacturing locations and shifts, partnering closely with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees.
• Serve as the primary HR resource for employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, attendance, corrective action, performance management, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and separations. Coach supervisors and managers on addressing employee concerns and applying policies consistently.
• Proactively identify opportunities and assess improvements to the employee experience and partner with Operations to develop and implement innovative and lasting solutions.
• Ensure employee inquiries and concerns are answered and/or properly addressed in a timely manner.
• Assess training and development needs and develop or facilitate programs for employees and supervisors.
• Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
• Perform periodic audits of people data and resolve discrepancies in coordination with Payroll, Benefits, and Corporate HR as appropriate.
• Manage the site-level leave, accommodation, and return-to-work processes, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability/STD, military leave, workers’ compensation, fitness-for-duty, and light, modified, or restricted duty. Coordinate with third-party administrators, medical providers, Operations, and Corporate HR or legal counsel as needed.
• Manage the Payroll Specialist and provide backup support with payroll processing as needed, while supporting benefits administration, employee records, timekeeping, and HRIS processes.
• Interpret and apply human resources policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

• Proven experience as HR Business Partner or HR Generalist.
• People-oriented, service-focused, and results-driven.
• Skilled in employee relations, policy interpretation, performance management, and coaching leaders and supervisors.
• An effective listener, communicator, negotiator, and presenter.
• Able to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
• Knowledgeable about federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment and supporting plant location.
• Experienced with HR systems and databases; some experience with UKG is preferred.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
• At least three years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role.
• Strong planning, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
• Experience supporting an hourly, manufacturing, or industrial workforce is a plus.
