Job Overview: The Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) Assistant Director supports the Director in the oversight and administration of federally funded highway safety programs aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities across Tennessee. This role provides strategic leadership in media campaigns, grant management, contract oversight, and program evaluation, ensuring alignment with state and federal priorities, including National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Evaluate, administer, and manage statewide media campaigns and outreach programs to enhance public awareness and support highway safety initiatives. Oversee complex programs, contracts, and grants, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Support the Director in planning, directing, and evaluating division programs and staff. Manage and monitor grant funding, contracts, and claims to ensure timely reimbursements and adherence to the Tennessee Prompt Payment Act. Supervise program managers and support staff, including performance management and development. Coordinate with stakeholders, vendors, and partner organizations to advance THSOs mission. Qualifications: At least five (5) years of experience related to public safety, program management, or law enforcement, including experience in grant administration and supervision.
